Did your favorite watering hole close down? Or perhaps you’ve moved to a new locale? Whatever the reason, you’re looking for a new bar. But what should you look for when trying to find a place to wet your whistle? Here’s how to find your new favorite bar in a flash!
If you like popping into the bar for a drink after work, perhaps a location close to the office is in order. If you’d rather be closer to home so you can park there and then walk home safely or even Uber back without worry, that’s fine too. Location matters because it makes you comfortable so decide what makes you feel best.
Atmosphere is another important aspect. Do you want to be able to catch the big game or watch multiple ones at once? Or would you prefer something more refine? Do you like loud and noisy? Or would you rather find a comfy place to chill in where you can gab with friends? We all have our own preferences so decide what atmosphere makes you feel most at home.
Cheers was so popular because “everybody knows your name and they’re always glad you came.” Look for a place where the staff are on top of things, even when they’re busy. Are they checking on you to see if you want another round? Do they make suggestions based on your eating and drinking habits to help you find more to enjoy? A welcoming staff surely makes for a good place to drink.
If a rough and tough motorcycle crowd spooks you, you probably shouldn’t head to a biker bar. Look for a place where the people are the kind you want to be around. If you like rowdy, then go for it. If you’d prefer a more upscale crowd, then find a place that’s more refined and suited to your tastes.
We all love a unique and bespoke cocktail, but who wants to pay too much? There’s nothing worse than ordering a drink only to find that one costs as much as you thought two would cost. You don’t need to go to a dull dive bar with lost souls laying on the bar like Moe’s Tavern though. You can find plenty of great bars that have great drink specials that won’t break your bank.
Don’t forget about that. Happy Hour is one of the best ways to get a feel for a new bar in your area and get cheaper drinks too. Cheers!
